How do I accept credit cards?
To be able to accept credit cards online you must either: 1. have a bank merchant account. If you don't already have a merchant account, you can do this through the major Australian banks. They will help you set up a merchant account that accepts Bankcard, VISA and MasterCard. You will have to deal separately with the individual institutions which run American Express and Diners Club. 2. use an online payment solution such asPaypal. This is our recommended option as there are no setup charges, monthly charges, or gateway fees. You simply pay as you go (approx 1.1% + $0.30 AUD per transaction). Realtime or manual Credit Card Processing? Manual processing of cards means that you will either enter the card details directly into an eftpos terminal, or write the card details onto a manual sales voucher provided by your bank . Realtime processing means that money is automatically deducted from the purchasers credit card and credited to your merchant account.
