To help combat global warming acidgreen has partnered with Carbonfund.org as part of their CarbonFree® program. Using their motto we have reduced what we can and offset what we cant. We have offset 140 metric tons of carbon dioxide to cover the impact of our business over the past year. We are all responsible for climate change and we all must be part of the solution. Carbonfund.org supports carbon-reducing projects such as renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects.
Moving away from printed material to digital marketing is a great way to save money and save the environment. The "harvesting of forests" for paper to print and mail marketing materials is no longer necessary. Conservation is important to our planet and we can all play a part by using the environmentally friendly marketing and advertising tools available to deliver vital information. You can reduce the carbon emissions that arise when printing and mailing products and reduce environmentally hazardous materials used in the print industry though email marketing.
We have recently partnered with Digital Pacific - Australia’s ‘greenest’ hosting company. Digital Pacific has committed to conducting Quarterly reviews of its carbon footprint, estimating the emissions generated for every aspect of its business including the daily operation and maintenance of hosting servers, routers and air conditioners. Following each review the company will purchase carbon credits to cover one hundred per cent of its estimated emissions. This ensures that whatever power Digital Pacific uses, an equivalent amount is fed back into the electricity grid from wind or solar power, rather than non-sustainable means.
We have partnered with one of Australia’s leading printing companies who now offer a ‘green paper range’. They will print your order on 100% post-consumer recycled paper stock. They will also donate money on your behalf to plant a tree (their target is a whopping 10,000 trees). Part of the donated money is also used to cover the cost of looking after each tree after the initial planting to ensure their survival.
WAYS TO BECOME GREEN AT YOUR OFFICE
1. Become carbon neutral.
2. Upload large files rather then sending them on disc. If you don’t have FTP, then you can use a service like DropSend or YouSendIt.
3. Take on charity projects for an environmental not-for-profit.
4. Join One Percent For The Planet yourself and give a small portion of your sales to environmental charities.
5. Use Concept Share to cut down on faxes and printing.
6. When you need to print something, print on both sides of a piece of paper.
7. Put two bins by your desk – one for recyclables and one for waste.
8. Recycle your printer cartridges.
9. Turn off your computer when you finish work for the night.
10. Send and receive virtual faxes rather than paper ones.
11. Send your invoices via email rather than posting them.
12. Install energy efficient lighting around the office.
